Plastic Alert

I went rubbish collecting in Buckskin with Councillors Stephanie Grant and Tony Jones. It is very apparent to me that Basingstoke could do a lot more to enable recycling, particularly plastic. Currently Basingstoke is 234th out of 253 in the league table for recycling. The council currently have a target of 27 per cent and are achieving 28.6 per cent. The national target is 50 per cent by 2020, so there is quite some way to go. I'm pleased that Labour Councillors Janet Westbrook and David Potter recently spoke on a Labour motion to council to redress this.
